Hear Mozart at his finest alongside two appealing contemporary pieces that will put the Goldner String Quartet in the spotlight as ‘soloist’.The Rave and the Nightingale takes Schubert’s great final string quartet as the starting point and gives the 19th-century composer a glimpse of the 21st century (‘DJ Franz’ perhaps?). The result is an exhilarating exercise in musical time travel. We’re also excited to be introducing the vividly imagined and rhythmically swinging music of Dutch composer Theo Verbey to Sydney audiences with Schaduw (Shadow) for string quartet, string orchestra and percussion. And at the centre of the program is a symphony by the 18-year-old Mozart – this is brilliant music with the sounds of oboes, horns and trumpets to add to its convivial drama.Music to rave about!(source:website Sydney Symphony Orchestra)
