At the invitation of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), Amsterdam Sinfonietta will be presenting a multimedia program, title ‘Liebestod’. The concert-going public will be able to see and hear this theatrical production in March, 2011 in six celebrated European Concert Halls. Included in the program is the full Lyrische Suite by Alban Berg (arr. by Alban Berg and Theo Verbey for string orchestra). In between each of the six movements, actor Jeroen Willems will play short scenes directed by Pierre Audi, based on Alban Berg’s love letters. Also on the program is a new work by Michel van der Aa for string orchestra, cello and filmprojections. The program begins with Wagner’s prelude from Tristan und Isolde, arranged for string orchestra by A. Williams.
