The rapper BLUMIO performs live with the Düsseldorf Symphony as part of the orchestra’s new Ignition series for young audiences addressing current topics. ‘The “3-2-1 Ignition” concert series at the Tonhalle, which transports classical music into the 21st century, is primarily geared to a young audience. What’s special about this is that the audience decides on the setting of the concert by Internet and by voting at the concert itself. For the event on 17th June, the young guests have chosen the subject of “Racism and Religion”.”Why can what is strange make us afraid? What prejudices do we have within us? The Düsseldorf rapper Blumio seeks the answers to these questions in his songs. At the Ignition concert moderated by director Michael Becker, Blumio performs with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra. The classical element is provided by various pieces including Mozart’s overture to “The Abduction from the Seraglio”,and Bernstein’s “Divertimento”.
